Important Instructions for FBOs

According to the directions issued by FSSAI on food safety, an important requirement for food e-commerce operators is to focus on training of last mile delivery personnel. Additionally, any product claims made on e-commerce platforms must be fully evidenced with the information provided on the product packaging. Any claims that are not on product packaging should also not be displayed online. Food e-commerce operators need to put in place mechanisms to ensure that products listed on their platforms comply with the FSS (Labeling and Display) Regulations, 2020. To maintain consumer confidence, it is also necessary to ensure that the food products distributed have sufficient remaining shelf life. As per FSSAI, products must have a shelf life of at least 30% at the time of delivery or at least 45 days.
