Sara attributed her initial motivation to none other than filmmaker Karan Johar, who encouraged her to lose weight for a role in his film. “He asked me to lose half my weight before considering me for a project. His journey was not without obstacles. “There were days in college when I weighed 180 to 200 pounds and I thought, ‘What difference does it make now?’ That was the worst mentality I had,” Sara confessed. However, he managed to overcome this downward spiral and worked towards a healthier approach.
Diet played an important role in his transformation. “I realized that unhealthy eating habits affect more than just appearance. They affect your hormones, your mental health and your general well-being,” Sara said. She emphasized mindful eating and the importance of a balanced diet, incorporating fresh fruits, vegetables and lean proteins into her meals.
In addition to diet, Sara incorporated a rigorous exercise regimen into her daily routine. A combination of cardio, strength training, and yoga became the cornerstone of her weight loss. Dancing, one of her passions, also served as a fun but effective exercise. “Dancing not only helped me physically but also mentally; “It was therapeutic,” he said.
Sara’s journey highlights the lasting impact of body image issues. “The fat complex does not leave your brain. Even today I have to be very careful with what I eat,” he admitted.
