1. Incline Log Press or Swiss Bar
The goal of this exercise is to use a barbell, or log, that allows you to take a wide, neutral grip that hits your upper chest in a different way than a normal bench press and allows you to lift a lot of weight.
2. Incline Crossover Cable Chest Press
By changing the angle from where you press, you can place more tension on different parts of your pectoralis major. This unorthodox exercise targets the inner and upper parts of the chest.
Using a bench and cable machine, sit at an angle to the arm and press through the body.
3. Reverse Grip Dumbbell Press
This also targets the upper chest. By using a reverse grip, you bring your elbows closer to your body, taking your delts out of the equation.
4. Single Arm Crossover Pec Dec Fly
If you’re behind on muscle growth around your sternum, this is the move for you. Sitting in a pec dec fly, grab a handle and push it across your body, aiming to reach the opposite shoulder.
5. Low to High Cable Fly
This is a good exercise for your upper chest, but it’s best done at the end of a workout since you won’t be able to carry much.
6. Angled Single Arm Dumbbell Press
If you’re having trouble with stabilization on this exercise, you can do this move on a hammer strength machine.
With the dumbbell, you’ll be pushing up through your body as you’ll be lying on the bench on your shoulder.
7. Cross Fly
This exercise will get a maximum contraction at the end of each repetition while working both arms simultaneously. Just make sure both arms are across your body in front of your body and keep alternating them.
8. Dumbbell Low to High Fly
Another exercise that will target your upper chest, just be sure to use lighter than normal dumbbells and sit on an incline bench.
