Smoking is such a habit that it undermines your health from the inside. Due to this, the risk of serious diseases like cancer also increases. In order to solve this problem and create awareness about the harmful effects of smoking on the human body, WHO has issued special guidelines.

What percentage of people worldwide smoke?
These recommendations are expected to benefit more than 750 million young people who want to quit all types of tobacco, including cigarettes, waterpipes, smokeless tobacco products, cigars, rolling tobacco and heated tobacco products.
What did the WHO Director-General say?
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that these guidelines would prove to be a milestone in our global fight against these dangerous products. He said that in most countries of the world tobacco addiction among young people has taken a dangerous form. This is a mission that will help people quit smoking. In fact, this is because due to the poor lifestyle and tobacco addiction among young people, the burden of associated diseases is increasing all over the world. Therefore, there is a need to take significant steps in this area.
What are the difficulties encountered when quitting smoking?
According to current statistics, 750 million people worldwide smoke and use tobacco. Among them, 60 percent of the world’s 1.25 billion tobacco users want to quit smoking. But due to lack of resources and health problems, adequate services do not reach them. The result is that they fail to give up these bad habits. Rüdiger Kreich, Director of Health Promotion at WHO, highlighted the difficulties people face when trying to quit smoking. They should not be exaggerated.
Director Rudiger Kreich said that we must deeply appreciate the strength needed to overcome addiction and the suffering endured by individuals and their loved ones. These are guidelines that help those who want to get out of this difficulty.
