Why is anesthesia given?
A dose of anesthesia is administered to relieve pain during surgery. Anesthesia is actually a mixture of drugs that, when ingested, prevent the nervous system from sending signals to the brain. As a result, the patient is not aware of the operation and remains unconscious.
