With the arrival of Diwali, the weather in Delhi has started to deteriorate again. The government began to impose restrictions. This time too, there is a possibility of more pollution like last Diwali. The main cause of the capital’s poisonous air is fireworks, stubble and smoke emanating from vehicles.
There are so many vehicles in the state that a few years ago even the odd-even formula had to be introduced. In fact, pollution emanating from vehicles poses a major threat not only to the environment but also to health. Cars and bicycles pollute. In such a situation, let’s know which of the two sources of pollution is the most dangerous…
Vehicles running on gasoline and diesel emit carbon monoxide into the air, which is harmful to health. In addition, carbon, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides are also released in large quantities, causing dangerous health effects. It can cause serious respiratory illnesses
Most pollution is caused by heavy vehicles. Then comes the bike ride. A combination of petrol and diesel cars does not produce as much pollution as a bicycle. This was revealed in a study conducted at the Energy and Research Institute (TERI) and the University of California.
According to a study by the International Council for Clean Transportation (ICCT), 70% of gasoline consumption in 2021 was intended for road transport and 25% for two-wheelers. The study indicates that if the number of gasoline-powered two-wheelers increases, dependence on fossil fuels will more than double by 2050.
Ways to avoid vehicle pollution: 1. Use electric vehicles. 2. Use public transportation more. 3. Can carpool. 4. Ride a bike instead of cycling. 5. Maintain good maintenance of the car-cycle.
