Dr Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre launches ‘Healthy Ageing Clinic’, ‘Dr Mohan’s On Wheels’ – ET HealthWorld

Chennai: In an effort to expand the reach of diabetes care and advocate for the needs of India’s aging population, Dr. Mohan Diabetes Specialty Center (DMDSC) has launched the ‘Healthy aging clinic‘ and ‘Dr. Mohan’s On Wheels’. These two novel initiatives seek to reshape the way diabetes is managed in India, placing strong emphasis on accessibility, preventative care and improvements in quality of life. These services, introduced in honor of “World Diabetes Day” on November 14, are in perfect alignment with this year’s theme of improving access to diabetes care.

The Healthy Aging Clinic, the first service of its kind in India, is dedicated to addressing the unique needs of seniors, particularly those managing diabetes. The clinic offers comprehensive care to improve physical, mental and cognitive health, focusing on preventative measures to improve the quality of life of seniors. With a multidisciplinary team of specialists, the clinic provides personalized care and evidence-based strategies to manage diabetes-related challenges, reduce complications, and help patients maintain an active, fulfilling lifestyle.

“Healthy aging encompasses much more than just physical well-being; it is about nourishing the mind and body together to support our patients as they age,” said Dr. V Mohan, president of the Diabetes Specialty Center at Dr. .Mohan. “By focusing on physical health, mental health resilience and cognitive vitality, we are empowering our patients to maintain their independence, improve their well-being and truly lead fuller, more satisfying lives as they age.”

Dr RM Anjana, CEO of Dr Mohan Diabetes Specialty Centre, said: “Our clinic is designed to identify early signs of cognitive decline and we are committed to employing state-of-the-art tools and interventions to manage and potentially prevent these issues. Through this specialized care, we hope to improve not only the physical health but also the mental resilience and cognitive vitality of our patients.”

Dr S Uthra, Consultant, Dr Mohan Diabetes Specialty Centre, highlighted: “Early detection of cognitive decline is crucial and we are implementing cutting-edge screening tools to identify symptoms at an early stage. “For our elderly patients, personalized treatment plans and support are paramount, and this clinic is an important step in providing compassionate, personalized care.”

DMDSC has also presented ‘Dr Mohan’s On Wheels’, a mobile diabetes care initiative that brings health care directly to patients’ homes. This new service includes home health consultations, personalized support and ongoing care, designed to ensure patients receive consistent and convenient diabetes management without the need to visit a clinic.

“We are on a mission to make diabetes care as accessible as possible,” explained Dr. V Mohan. “With Dr. Mohan’s On Wheels, we reach patients who would otherwise find it difficult to visit a clinic regularly. “This initiative will improve treatment adherence, empower people in their self-care, and ultimately lead to better health outcomes.”

Expanding on the vision of the service, Dr Anjana commented: “By meeting patients where they are, we offer a personalized and convenient approach that prioritizes continuity of care. “This initiative is designed to reduce health care disparities and bring specialized diabetes support to the homes of those who need it most.”
