EASIER ACCESS TO MENTAL HEALTH WELLBEING SUPPORT NOW AVAILABLE ON THE ISLE OF WIGHT

The Isle of Wight mental health welfare organisation, the Isorropia Foundation, is now open to self-referrals.

People struggling with their mental health and well-being can now directly access help from the Newport-based Isorropia Foundation, without the need for a professional referral.

The organisation, which works closely with mental health teams, GPs and community organizations on the Isle of Wight, recently received a contract from the local Health Commissioners to continue to provide its services to residents of the Isle of Wight. for another 3 years.

Members who graduated from the Fundación Isorropia program in 2021 reported significant improvements in all areas of their well-being, particularly how they managed their anxiety and moodiness, their understanding of their mental health, and increased confidence and hope for the future.

Dr. Dan O’Neill, Island’s GP and Clinical Director of Mental Health, has said:

“We know that for many people struggling with their mental health, the thought of asking for help can be frightening and overwhelming. That is why it is so important to give people options: we sincerely hope that facilitating direct contact with the Isorropia team, without having to go through anyone else, can make a difference for anyone who otherwise refrains from get the help they really need.

“By taking those difficult initial steps, we hope that they will begin to empower themselves to take control of their own mental well-being while receiving the support that helps them on that journey.”

The Isorropia Foundation is based in downtown Newport, across from County Hall, and offers in-person and online appointments.

Induction sessions, workshops and groups are available in Newport and at locations around the island, to make it as easy as possible to join sessions and develop support networks in local communities.
