Artists, industry veterans and mental health experts join hands with WB Commission of Women to help and guide young talents – Times of India

The shocking deaths of young artists Pallavi Dey, Majumder’s Bidisha, Manjusha Neogi and aspiring model Saraswati Das in a span of two weeks, have raised several questions. While police investigations are still ongoing, the back-to-back incidents have raised concerns about prioritizing mental health as well. Several industry veterans, mental health experts have spoken out about the situation. The shocking incidents have prompted the West Bengal Women’s Commission to take an initiative and address the alarming situation. President Leena Gangopadhyay, who has been associated with the entertainment industry for a long time, took the initiative to bring together the Artists’ Forum, East India Film Workers and Technicians Federation, TV channel representatives, mental health experts and find a likely solution.

Senior Artists Indrani Halder, Badshah Moitra, sohini senguptaUshasie Chakraborty Ambarish Bhattacharya, Shankar Chakraborty, Diganta Bagchi, Swarup Biswas, President of the Federation of East Indian Film Workers and Technicians, producer Shaibal Banerjee, representatives of TV channels and mental health experts were invited to an open platform to discuss the issue. On Thursday they all met under one roof following the initiative of WB Women’s Commission.

Industry veterans gave a real insight into show business and how important it is to stay focused and be patient. Artists Indrani, Badshah, Ambarish, Ushasie and others discussed the struggle an artist must go through before savoring success, as well as the fact that nothing is permanent in this profession.

Senior artist Indrani, who has made her presence felt on both television and film, shared her personal experience. She shared how things were different when she entered show business and how she managed to survive in this profession that is not stable. Indrani shared how important it is to work hard, be patient and not collapse in case of failure. Sohini, Badshah, Ushasie, and other industry veterans also shared her personal experiences during the discussion. Mental health experts, meanwhile, expressed concern about the latest deaths. They also emphasized the need to counsel budding artists to address depression and suicidal tendencies.

All experts highlighted the need to coach young talents to cope with work pressure and failure. The need to provide advice to young artists was also discussed and is being seriously considered by the Artists Forum.
