Chandigarh: PGI is conducting research on the use of artificial intelligence / machine learning algorithms that predict serious events like mortality, length of stay in ICU etc. Dr. G.D. Puri and his team led Dr. Rajarajan Ganesan Is entering the world of AI in medicine with the support of Cardiothoracic Vascular Surgery Team Dr. Shyam Kumar Singh Thingnam and Dr. At the department of Nitin Oluk IITRoper.

Under his guidance, an interdisciplinary team is developing a predictive platform on the existing Anesthesia Information and Management System (AIMS) to assist in the decision-making process. This includes a multidisciplinary team Sushant Konar, PhD Scholar and Research Fellow sponsored by the Indian Council of Medical Research under Dr. Puri. AIMS is already deployed and operating in four cardiothoracic vascular surgery operation theaters at the Advanced Cardiac Center. The new technology will enable better utilization of resources and predict the potential for adverse outcomes promoting advanced cardiac care after surgery. tnn
