Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) Bengaluru, GE Healthcare’s largest R&D center outside the U.S., the lab will serve as a testbed for developing ready-made products and solutions for the future, turning a new corner in innovation. It has state-of-the-art infrastructure, including a private 5G network for testing and development. It provides a platform for expertise as well as a collaborative ecosystem for academia, the healthcare industry and startups, facilitating the exploration and validation and qualification of 5G-enabled healthcare use cases.
This high-speed connectivity includes tele-health, remote health monitoring / diagnosis, real-time remote image processing and Artificial intelligence (AI). 5G can act as a key catalyst to transform the patient experience by enabling faster storage and transmission of large data files and real-time, high-definition video, which can support rapid analytical insights and streamline clinical decision making. In a broader sense, 5G can significantly accelerate improvements in the quality of medical care and reduce the burden of healthcare costs.

The GE Healthcare 5G Innovation Lab will serve as a conduit for the interaction of exponential technologies such as AI / ML, IoT, Big Data, Edge Computing and Cyber Security.

5G-powered augmented and Virtual reality It is also key to training physicians from doctors and nurses to interns, enabling them to visualize procedures in a more engaging, learning-by-doing way.
