James Hollingshead Set to Compete in 2022 Yamamoto Pro and Arnold Classic UK | BarBend

On July 12, 2022, the British IFBB Pro League bodybuilder James Hollinghead announced that he will compete in 2022 Yamamoto Pro and 2022 arnold classic uk. Your goal is to win at least one of those contests to qualify for the 2022 Mr Olympia Contestscheduled for December 16-18, 2022 in Las Vegas, NV.

Hollingshead shared the news of his competitive future at Fouad Abiad‘s bodybuilding and stupid podcast. Hollingshead’s statement can be seen at the 13:06 mark in the following YouTube video:

Hollingshead has won two professional shows in his career. His first victory was Europe Pro 2020. He followed that up by winning the 2020 British Grand Prix. He made his Mr. Olympia debut at the olympic weekend 2021 in Orlando, FL, where he finished 13th overall. Reigning Mr. Olympia Mamdouh “Great Ramy” Elssbiay he won that show for the second year in a row.

Hollingshead revealed that waiting so long between competitions may have led to him ending up at the 2021 Olympia. Therefore, he is opting to compete in multiple shows this season:

I’d like to do multiple shows, just to get into my groove. The mistake I made last year was trying to target one. I don’t think it was very beneficial.

Hollingshead told Abiad that he weighed around 282 pounds at the time of the podcast taping. One of the criticisms of Hollingshead’s physique at the 2021 Olympia was that his midsection could have been narrower. He has a strategy to help you improve your foundation for upcoming contests in 2022:

I am training my abs more thoroughly. I let myself be a little emptier during training so I can have a better contraction.

The 2022 Yamamoto Cup Pro is scheduled for September 11, 2022 in Italy. The venue and city have not yet been shared on the IFBB Pro League schedule at the time of this article’s publication. The second Arnold Classic UK is scheduled for September 24-25, 2022 in Birmingham, England.

Hollingshead must win one of the shows to qualify for the 2022 Olympia. He has zero points in the Olympia classification system and you don’t have enough time to score the points needed to qualify if you don’t win a contest.
