With participants showing up waving rainbow flags, handcrafted flanks, a bright color palette: New York City’s annual Gay Pride Parade in Manhattan it was particularly significant as it occurred just two days after the United States Supreme Court struck down the constitutional right to abortion. As a minority-run company, SoundMind was proud to have participated in the weekend of events that represented almost utter jubilation, with attendees advocating for human rights from around the world.
SoundMind held an app activation booth, with attendees learning about the app and how sounds can help with overall mental wellness to relieve anxiety and overall health index. Users were welcomed to the app with a personalized NYC Pride section in the app, which allowed them to go through a series of mental health checks. In a recent clinical study conducted by the company with the Boys & Girls Club of America, the app lowered the heart rate of tested participants by 50%, and 64% of participants reported increased interest, activity, and enthusiasm after using SoundMind. application every day for a week.

At NYC Pride, attendees responded with positive reviews of the app and the startup’s efforts garnered over 150,000 interactions over the weekend, with Getty Images joining in. Mental Health and Chronic Illness Advocate gigi robinsonnarrating the anxiety segment in the app, noted that he loves the app because of its research-backed music therapy technologies, “The app uses binaural beats, a technology that uses different frequencies to elevate mood, reduce stress, and decrease anxiety levels.”
The SoundMind team is gearing up for the release of its newest version, scheduled for release in late summer. The new version will feature a completely revamped design and will feature an artist platform with up-and-coming songwriters, including the American Idol semi-finalist contestant. Allegra Miles and the top 4 artists Mackenzie Bourg; new memory games; over 10,000 new sounds added to its soundscape feature; and an algorithm for tracking the general mental health of users.
