If you’re looking for a great fitness activity to do this summer, I’d like to direct you to the Runtastic Nebo Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K. They are celebrating a 12-year career to improve mental health and support Wasatch Behavioral Health.

Wasatch Behavioral Health is a community behavioral health center providing mental health and substance use treatment services in Utah and Wasatch counties. They were the first mental health center in Utah and have been in business for over 50 years.

Last year, WBH served nearly 11,000 people of all ages. There are five family clinics, four are located in Utah County and one in Wasatch County. There are two locations in Provo, one in Payson and one in American Fork.

Friends of WMH’s mission statement is: “Mental illness is a pervasive and potentially chronic condition that affects more than 21,000 members of our Utah County community. Despite the well-researched, evidence-based treatments available in our community, many suffer in silence due to denial, stigma, and shame. Our goal is to increase public awareness of mental illness, the effectiveness of treatment, and to promote mental wellness in the community. We believe that awareness and education reduce stigma, that early detection and diagnosis leads to prevention, and that people with mental illness can recover and lead full and meaningful lives.”

A portion of each registration and 100% of all donations made at the Runtastic Nebo Marathon will go directly to Wasatch Behavioral Health.

The event will be on August 27 at Payson Memorial Park, located at 250 South Main Street in Payson. The marathon starts at 6 am, the half at 6:30 am, the 10K at 6:45 am and the 5K at 7 am Participants will run along the scenic Mt. Nebo Loop through Payson Canyon, allowing them to enjoy all the beauty of Payson Canyon. All information is available at https://runtasticevents.com/races/nebo-half/.
