island of love star Jacques O’Neil has offered a positive mental health update and shared an abortive snap with her supportive mother after her tearful decision to leave the program earlier this month.
Rugby professional Jacques, who teamed up with a paramedic paige thorneadmitted he couldn’t ‘go on like this’ and said he didn’t feel like he was being himself like him announced his departure in scenes that aired on July 12.
In an interview he gave after his departure, the 23-year-old described going on the show. the ‘worst decision of my life’ while sharing that he had felt ‘so mentally drained’.
He also talked about how his ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) had started to become a problem as “every little thing” started to bother him as he dealt with “feeling pretty anxious.”
However, on Saturday he shared a beaming image of himself with his arm around his mother Janet Wright on Instagram, which he captioned: “This woman ❤️🌎.”
He posted the same image to his stories and added, “Back to standard Saturday by taking R [sic] Jan out for tea.
Jacques also shared another photo of them together, in which he tagged his mother, who I met him at the airport after her early departure from Love Island, and posted a red heart next to her name.
He too took to twitter to thank the fans for their support and share that he was now in a ‘better place mentally’.
“I just want everyone to know that I’m in a better place mentally,” she wrote. ‘A big reason for that is because of all the love and support I’ve received! I’d be in a much darker place if it wasn’t for all the kind words from her, so thanks again, I really appreciate it.”
Jacques went to Aftersun on July 17 to discuss your departure from the programin an appearance that some fans called “super awkward” and “sad”.
Sources also claim that he was reluctant to participate in the spinoff show, but told her Sunday’s mail that he felt he had “little choice but to agree” to be interviewed by host Laura Whitmore, as they claimed his appearance was “stipulated in his contract”.
In addition, they said that he was ‘unhappy’ to appear after the return of the former contestant Adam Collardwho he quickly broke up with Paige after flirting with her before Jacques decided to leave.
They added: ‘Jacques kept saying he wasn’t good enough mentally. It was quite obvious that he was, especially when he read what he said after leaving the village.
However, ITV has refuted claims that Jacques was under pressure to appear in Aftersun, as they said they would “always respect” an Islander’s decision not to take part.
said a spokesman Metro.es: ‘It is not true to suggest that Jacques was forced or pressured to appear in Aftersun.
“We would always respect an Islander’s decision not to participate in the program, just as we would respect an Islander’s decision to leave the Village.”
