Medical report suggests girl with mental illness was not raped, Rajasthan police

Jaipur: A medical report has allayed fears of rape of the mentally challenged girl, who was found in distress with injuries to her private parts in Alwar district, police said on Friday.

The new findings also revealed that the 14-year-old girl had traveled alone from her village to the city, they said. She was found bleeding and lying on a bridge near Tijara Fatak on Tuesday night.

Prime Minister Ashok Gehlot had ordered the police department to conduct a thorough investigation, after which the Alwar Superintendent of Police (SP) formed a Special Investigation Team. According to the doctors, the girl’s rectum was displaced and she was operated on for two and a half hours.

“Today (Friday), a team of experts have submitted a report to the police, in which they have said that the injuries are not suggestive of any penetrative attack on the girl. So far, the facts and technical information from medical experts suggest that there is no possibility of rape in the case,” Alwar SP Tejaswani Gautam told reporters.

The SP said that the police have not yet determined how the girl suffered such serious injuries.

Gautam told reporters that the girl traveled about 25 kilometers from her village and arrived in the city of Alwar in an auto-rickshaw. He then walked to the Tijara Fatak Bridge “on his own”.

“We were able to track the girl’s movements and trace the auto-rickshaw she was traveling in with 8-10 other passengers. A team of forensic experts has found nothing suspicious in the auto-rickshaw. The driver was questioned and her companions will be questioned,” said SP.

CCTV footage collected from various locations showed her walking in many areas of the city and on the bridge, but no cameras found her in distress on the bridge, police said. Official sources said the prime minister was constantly monitoring the case. “The Jaipur Police Inspector General visited Alwar on Wednesday and issued necessary instructions to the district police. The required forensic and technical assistance was provided,” a source said.

Meanwhile, a child psychologist and experts also interacted with the girl. Police said they were preparing a questionnaire for experts so they could seek answers from the girl.
