Kensington Church Hope Water Project draws runners to Detroit marathon

The omicron virus is raging in the cold of winter.

Can it be more difficult to maintain the resolution to exercise? That seems especially true for those who decide to pursue daunting goals, like the Free Press marathon and half marathon.

However, some people find motivation to get up and get through the winter. That includes a group of hundreds of runners who train year-round, then show up each fall at Detroit marathon events, crossing the finish line in the sky blue and white t-shirts of the Hope Water Project. Most are members of the Troy-based Church of Kensington, whose multiple Michigan locations add up to what may be the largest church in Michigan.
