They’re convenient snacks and, for people who shop with convenience in mind, they make a great breakfast or lunch on the go. But protein bars also have a downside that the researchers behind the latest study want you to be aware of: They can lead to weight gain.
As News24 explained aboveFor some of us, these health bars can be helpful in meeting nutritional requirements and are fine to include in your diet, depending on the type of bar. Dietician Francesca Esposito warned that you have to evaluate the bars by checking the content on the label.
“Ingredients are listed in descending order, with the most abundant ingredient listed first. If sugar is one of the top three ingredients, you know the bar is high in sugar,” he said.
