“Yeah, it felt good” 2021 Europe’s Strongest Man he said after his set ended. The cameraman asked him about the possible differences between walking with the weight and using a monolift, which the athletes will do at the ASC in Columbus.
I have used monolifts before, and I still prefer to take it and walk. It’s just a personal preference really.
As to 2021 World’s Strongest Man, Tom Stoltman fell short of the weight his older brother used, but still weighed in at 315 kilograms (694 lb) squatting for a double. Earlier in the session, Tom stopped and brought the weight back up because he was uncomfortable with the way his kneepads they were applied by his trainer, Dan Hipkiss. Many strength athletes feel that if the knees are wrapped inappropriately, it could cause injury. Tom listened to his instincts and talked about making a change.
“When I went down, there was no support there,” Tom explained to his coach. “I can feel my knee popping out.”
Tom took the time to apply your knee pads only before the next set, which worked better in his next set. Hipkiss paid attention to the nuances Tom used to know how to apply them in the future. Tom explained the fit and how he felt after the set:
The wrapper is now higher [on the leg] and down the middle, and that works much better for me.
For the remainder of the session, both Stoltmans performed repetitions on the leg press, bulgarian split squatsstanding and banded leg curls calf raises. closed with planks to maximize core stability.
