It is quite a common problem these days due to poor diet and lifestyle followed these days. With that being said, there are several natural ways to help regulate, control, and balance your hormones.
Nutritionist Lovneet Batra reveals in her Instagram post: “One of the best ways to start improving your hormonal health is with your morning routine! Because what we choose to do first thing in the morning can set the tone for the whole day.”
Here are 6 habits that can help you restore your hormonal health:
- Oil Pulling – Helps cleanse the system and restore the gut microbiome, which is responsible for gut health, which in turn can have a huge impact on your hormonal health!
- Start your day with the sun, not a screen: Your cortisol (stress hormone) level is already at its highest right when you wake up, so opening your eyes to blue light can cause cortisol to spike . Wait at least 45 minutes before reaching for your phone after waking up. Exposure to bright light early in the morning within the first 10-15 minutes of waking up helps maintain our circadian rhythm and therefore our hormones!
- Start your day with movement: Starting your day with gentle movement (light stretching) can help support your lymphatic system, digestion, and metabolism, all of which are important for hormonal balance!
- Avoid caffeine first thing in the morning: Shaking your body awake with (acidic) caffeine on an empty stomach doesn’t do your hormones any favors.
- Have a protein-rich breakfast within 90 minutes of waking up: When you eat breakfast in the morning, you’re training your hunger hormone to fire during waking hours. This is important because hunger hormones affect your energy and influence the sleep/wake cycle!
- Grounding: It’s as simple as walking barefoot on the ground. When grounded, the daytime rhythm of the stress hormone cortisol begins to normalize and helps control blood sugar levels, regulates metabolism, helps reduce inflammation, and helps with memory formulation. . Do you have a morning ritual to help you start your day like a rock star? If so, we’d love to hear about them in the comments!
