Soon, digital link for govt health centres to boost tele-medicine in Gurgaon – ET HealthWorld

Gurugaon: The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has started work on establishing digital connectivity for government hospitals, primary health centers and community health centers in the city.

The metropolitan development authority launched the tender to connect the fiber optic network to various government health care buildings and provide integrated health care services.

Under this, the HCC and the PHCs will be linked to the Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) on the GMDA fiber optic network. In addition, medical software will also be installed in ICCC, which will be linked to identified HCC and PHC.

This will boost medical services in the city and strengthen teleconsultation and telemedicine facilities for citizens, the GMDA official said on Monday.

There are two hospitals and 19 PHCs and CHCs, along with the medical director’s office, that have been identified by the health department where the support team will be based and connected to ICCC. This would cost around Rs. Rs 1.5 crore to GMDA for building the infrastructure and connecting these sites with ICCC.

According to the senior GMDA official, the project is being implemented in close coordination with the district health department.

“The city already has a vast fiber optic network that is being installed at 358 intersection points. With the advancement of technology, it becomes more imperative to have digitally integrated healthcare services. We have started the tender process to connect these sites with ICCC and expect the tender process to be completed within a month. It would take another six months to complete the project,” the senior official said.

In addition, vital testing devices and medical kits along with support staff and equipment will also be installed at these health care centers. Patients seeking consultations with hospital-integrated physicians can visit their nearest CHC and PHC.

With the infrastructural and technological support being installed by GMDA, patients can conveniently seek the benefit of teleconsultation from these centers without the need to travel at frequent intervals to visit the hospital.
