India: MediBuddya digital healthcare platform, saw a substantial increase in doctor visits among younger people, particularly those in the 25-35 age range.

With a strong increase of 44 percent, the tech-savvy generation is taking advantage of technology to track their health progress and practice a healthy lifestyle.

About this, endocrinology Queries on these platforms have increased by 74.32% between 2022 and 2023. While this indicates a worrying trend of prediabetes among the younger population in India it also indicates a positive change in the mindset of youth in India. The uptrend in endocrinology Consultations reflect the growing awareness and prevalence of hormonal disorders, which contributes to the general well-being of the population.

Dr Gowri Kulkarni, Head of Medical Operations, said: “It is encouraging to see younger people taking charge of their health and seeking timely medical advice. Hormonal imbalances can often go undetected, leading to long-term health consequences. The rise in endocrinology consultations is a testament to the growing awareness of the importance of hormonal balance and its impact on overall health. It is critical that we continue to raise awareness about hormonal disorders and their symptoms so that people can seek timely medical advice and treatment. With the right guidance, we can empower people to take control of their health and lead fulfilling lives.” During the same period of time, MediBuddy observed a rise in pulmonology consultations also with an increase of 58.87 percent in the number of queries. the increase in pulmonology consultations may be attributed to the increasing prevalence of respiratory diseases due to rising levels of pollution, depletion Air quality (AQI) in urban areas of India, smoking and acute infections. The burning of fossil fuels, industrial emissions, construction activities, and traffic congestion contribute significantly to air pollution.

In terms of gender distribution, the MediBuddy data also demonstrated trends for visits in the fields of Endocrinology and Pulmonology. The platform saw a 98.46% increase in female patients seeking endocrinology consultations, compared to a 56.41% increase in male patients. This is because women are more likely to experience hormonal imbalances due to menstrual irregularities, pregnancy, and menopause.

For their part, male pulmonology consultations increased by 74.19%, while female consultations increased by 36.90%. This may be due to severe climate change, excessive smoking and pollution leading to poor air quality putting everyone at increased risk of respiratory illness.
