Why does the problem of UTI increase in women in summer? Learn from the doctor the ways to avoid it

Due to extreme heat and temperature fluctuations, there has been a steep rise in the cases of Urinary Tract Infection (UTI). Due to the hot and humid weather in the summer season, UTI cases increase more, especially in women and children.

Urinary tract infection (UTI) means infection in any part of the urinary system, which includes the kidneys, ureters, bladder and arteries. Symptoms of a UTI include a burning sensation during urination, frequent urination, blood in the urine, fever, pain in the pelvic area and abdomen, nausea, and vomiting.
As the fever and Humidity increases, it becomes easier for bacteria to grow. Along with this, the risk of fluid loss also increases, and people who do not keep themselves hydrated during the summer may be at a higher risk of UTI. If a UTI is treated in time, there probably won’t be any lasting effects on your urinary tract.

If you are a female, you should be aware of the following tips to help you avoid UTI.

1. Know that certain types of birth control, such as spermicidal foam and the diaphragm, are known to increase the risk of UTIs in women. Talk to your health care practitioner about other forms of birth control.

2. When you need to urinate, don’t let it put you off and don’t try to urinate quickly. Holding urine and not emptying the gallbladder completely can increase the risk of UTI.

3. Drink a lot of water during summer. This can reduce your risk of UTI.

4. Do not eat spicy food or spicy food in excess, as it can increase the risk of UTI.
