Lucknow: The UP government has instructed the medical directors and chief medical superintendents of women’s hospitals to enter real time data about newly born in the mother-newborn tracking application (mantra app) to monitor child health and infant mortality.
Deputy Prime Minister Brajesh Pathak, who also holds the portfolio of health minister, called on officials to implement this immediately and not get slack as real-time data would help plan ahead to reduce child mortality and improve wellness plans.
Pathak said that the Mantra The application has been developed to strengthen delivery and referral services in state health medical units and to make all data available in real time by digitizing the delivery room record. Pathak added that data is currently being recorded on Mantra at 25,814 state health units, with 26.8 lakh institutional deliveries marked on this app as of May 15.
He said that the implementation of the data feed under the Mantra app should also be extended to other women’s institutions. A plan must be prepared for this purpose and officials must periodically review the program and strive to overcome technical and other obstacles.
