AI increasingly becoming embedded in healthcare provision: GlobalData – ET HealthWorld

London: artificial intelligence (AI) is being increasingly integrated into the provision of health care. In this context, 49 percent of healthcare professionals with prior AI experience showed strong support for its use in clinical practice and administrative tasks, according to a survey (426 healthcare professionals were surveyed between March 2023 and June 2023) by GlobalData.

The latest from GlobalData Thematic Intelligence Report‘AI in Clinical Practice – Physician Perspective 2023’, reveals that among the different activities, diagnostic support and treatment decision support are the two most popular cases with the use of AI tools.

Elton Kwock, Market Research Manager, Pharma, GlobalData, commented: “Some practices, such as oncology, have already been using AI to assist in their clinical works, such as risk prediction and disease diagnosis. Of course, while AI can help with diagnosis, treatment decisions, and ultimately provide more effective patient care, scientific validation is needed to verify the results.”

According to the report, which provides insights into the current use and outlook for AI in the top eight pharmaceutical markets (US, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, UK, Japan, and China (8MM)), a notable finding is that most physicians expressed great comfort in using AI to automate administrative tasks.

Kwok explained: “This sentiment underscores the growing acceptance of AI as a valuable tool for optimizing healthcare operations and suggests a shift to harness its potential to optimize administrative efficiencies in healthcare practices in these countries.”

Throughout the 8MM, China has become a prominent player in the global healthcare landscape by embracing AI, reflecting its commitment to promoting the accessibility and quality of healthcare and positioning the country as a key player in the ongoing digital revolution within the healthcare industry.
