Aarogya Setu: Under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, two health applications Arogya Setu and CoWIN are being revised again by the Central Government. Initially, both these apps were successfully used for monitoring and managing the Kovid-19 pandemic which was quite successful.
RS Sharma, Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Authority, says that the central government is planning to relaunch the Arogya Setu and Kovin app in a new way. Further he has said that we will now use Bharat Digital Health Solution again. RS Sharma said on 25 September that till now there are 240 million downloads of the Arogya Setu app. He said that hopefully there is no further threat of coronavirus.
No need to stand in line for check-in at the hospital
RS Sharma said that the application is being modified to address India’s digital health concerns. People will not have to wait in line to check-in at the hospital. Through this application, check-in can be done in the hospital by simply scanning.
Over the past ten years, India has developed several digital public platforms, each unique in its own way. Examples include Aadhaar, UPI Electronic KYC, Digital Locker etc.
According to Sharma, this application is creating service-level registers for doctors of India, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, health records etc.
Facility to register other vaccinations will be available in the CoWIN app
Aarogya Setu was launched to handle COVID-19 in a more systematic way. It has now been updated to function as a health and wellness app. The CoWIN app of this app has been widely used to facilitate COVID-19 vaccination.
In addition, CoWIN is being repurposed so that individuals can use it to trace and receive the other 12 mandatory vaccines covered by the National Immunization Program, including polio drops.
