AIIMS claims: 80 percent children are successful in defeating cancer, treatment results are better

Every year 70 thousand children are diagnosed with a dangerous disease like cancer. Out of which 400 are treated in AIIMS. AIIMS has recently claimed that children suffering from cancer are being treated here. 75-80 percent of them are such children who recover completely. Recently cancer specialist doctors of AIIMS have said on the occasion of ‘Childhood Cancer Specialist Day’.

Doctors have said that this is not an empty claim but we have complete records. According to the doctors, AIIMS Pediatric Oncology Division provides specialized cancer survivorship services in India. They run a weekly clinic where children who have successfully completed their treatment are registered. Whereas for those who have been treated before, emphasis is also placed on development, social issues, education, integration into society and cancer treatment and its side effects. Dr. Rachna Seth, Professor, Department of Pediatrics at AIIMS, said, “Every year around 250 patients undergo treatment at our center and are registered at the Survivor Clinic.” He told that if any other problems like heart problems, neurocognitive deficit, metabolic syndrome or reproductive problems arise after cancer treatment, then they are contacted for the advice of the concerned experts.

“Every year around 250 patients complete their treatment at our center and are registered at the Survivor Clinic,” said Dr. Rachna Seth, Professor, Department of Pediatrics at AIIMS. Syndrome, or reproductive problems, arise after cancer treatment. They are addressed through consultation with the concerned experts. The survivors are closely monitored for recurrence of the disease, said Dr Seth. Due to their weakened immune systems, these children are required to undergo re-vaccination courses. undergo a period of recovery that begins six months after the completion of their treatment. He said childhood cancers are different from adult cancers and most of them can be cured if detected early and treated appropriately. He warned that general symptoms, such as persistent fever, loss of energy, pallor, unusual lumps or swellings, weight loss, easy bruising and bleeding, squinting, and many other small onset symptoms signal that is often ignored.

Leukemia/lymphoma, CNS tumors, other solid tumors such as neuroblastoma, Wilms’ tumor, adipose tissue sarcoma, bone tumors, and retinoblastoma. As soon as these cancers are detected in children, they are given special treatment in the hospital. Along with this, special advice is given to the parents as to how they can improve the future life of their children. If a child has got cancer once, then they have to take special care of their lifestyle and things, otherwise they may have to face other types of physical problems in the future.
