This new program has been set up with the aim of reducing India’s dependence on imported surgical equipment, which is currently over 70%. Through this center, it hopes to provide a platform for Indian surgeons, doctors and engineers to conceptualize, design, develop and test prototypes of medical devices. This will prove very important in the facilities provided with the assistance of Japan in the field of technology and knowledge transfer.

Especially in highly populated areas, high-quality surgical equipment will be easily available. Along with this, efforts to create and develop an ecosystem to increase small and medium enterprises for the development of medical and surgical equipment are also in line with the Make in India policy.
