As consumer interest in Peloton wanes, companies have begun to express interest in buying the provider of home fitness equipment.

Popular during the first phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, Interactive Platoonrecently arrested production of their bikes and treadmills due to lack of interest.

As Peloton shares fall, interested buyers have lined up to discuss a possible purchase of the company, as learned for The Wall Street Journal.

One of the allegedly interested parties is Amazon, which has reportedly spoken with advisers about a possible purchase. However, according to those familiar with the matter, there is no imminent deal at this time.

If a company bought Peloton, it could pay quite a bit. WSJ notes that Peloton’s market value is around $8 billion, down from its 2021 high of $50 billion.

However, the purchase would give the acquiring company access to Peloton’s consumer base and its data. According to Backlinkothat number was about 5.9 million members from last June.

The data could prove very useful to any company looking to grow its own branch of health and wellness technology.

News of the interest sent Peloton shares up 30% in after-hours trading on Friday.

In 2020, Amazon launched the halo amazon, the company’s first foray into fitness trackers. The tracker gained notoriety for its always-on microphone that was used to track a user’s tone of voice while using it.
