Anxiety Specialist & Digital Health Expert Joins the Department of Psychiatry at NYU Langone Health

NEW YORK, February 9, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Nationally Renowned Psychologist and Anxiety Specialist Thea GallagherPsyD, has joined the Department of Psychiatry at NYU Langone Health as an Assistant Professor and Digital Coordinator of Mental Health, Outcomes and Wellness.

Gallagher previously held various positions at the Perelman School of Medicine at University of Pennsylvaniaincluding assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry, clinical director and clinical psychologist at the Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety, and clinical director of COBALT, a digital wellness platform for employees in the University of Pennsylvania.

Gallagher specializes in prolonged exposure therapy for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), exposure and response prevention for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and cognitive-behavioral treatments for other mental health conditions such as social anxiety, panic disorder, specific phobias, anxiety, eating disorders, insomnia and depression.

About Dr Gallagher

After earning her PsyD in clinical psychology at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic MedicineGallagher completed his postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine at University of Pennsylvania before joining the faculty where he has worked for the last seven years. During his time at the University of PennsylvaniaGallagher also taught and supervised the resident physicians, receiving the Martin P. Szuba Award for Excellence in Clinical Teaching and Research in 2021 for his focus on translating research concepts and findings into clinically useful teaching.

Throughout his career, Gallagher has presented at several national and international conferences, participated in several speaking engagements on wellness, mental health, and anxiety-related disorders, and has led dozens of cognitive behavioral therapy trainings.
