Arlo Parks has revealed that she is canceling several shows on her tour after reaching a “very dark place”, explaining how “exhausting and dangerously low” she has become.

In a statement shared on social media, the singer, whose birth name is Anaïs Oluwatoyin Estelle Marinho, explained that she had been “working to the bone” for the past year and a half, following artists like sam fender Y Justin Bieber that also recently put live shows on pause.

“I have been on the road on and off for the last 18 months, filling every spare second in between and working myself to the bone. It was exciting and I was looking forward to pushing myself and showing everyone what I was capable of, how grateful I was to be where I am today,’ she said.

“People around me started to worry, but I was anxious to deliver and afraid of disappointing my fans and myself.”

The 22-year-old, who released her debut studio album Collapsed in Sunbeams last year, described how she “pushed herself in an unhealthy way, further and harder than she should have”.

“Now I find myself in a very dark place, exhausted and dangerously depressed. It is painful to admit that my mental health has deteriorated to a debilitating place, that I am not well, that I am a human being with limits,” she said. shared.

Because of this, Arlo decided to cancel his upcoming shows that were to take place from Boston to Salt Lake City in the US, which were due to run through Saturday, September 24.

She will then restart her tour in Portland, starting Monday, September 26.

“I don’t make decisions like this lightly, but I’m broken and I really need to get out there and go home and take care of myself,” Arlo added.
