‘Armed and dangerous’ felons escape Virginia mental institution

JAMES CITY COUNTY, Virginia (WRIC) – Virginia State Police are searching for a pair of felons who escaped from a Virginia psychiatric hospital on Sunday.

Eastern State Hospital in James City County requested Virginia State Police to investigate and search for the two patients, 29-year-old Bryant Marcus Wilkerson and 31-year-old Austin Preston Leigh.

Both suspects are convicted felons with outstanding warrants, police said.

Leigh has outstanding warrants for drug offenses in Virginia and Wilkerson is wanted for a felony probation violation. Both patients now have additional arrest warrants for escaping from a mental facility, issued by the Department of Behavioral Health and Development.

Wilkerson is considered armed and dangerous, according to the Virginia State Police.
