An Army veteran has served a business vision in a multi-million dollar success story.
Nick Bare, founder of Naked Performance Nutritionjoined “Fox & Friends” on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 to trace how his college startup became a major brand.
While attending Indiana University of Pennsylvania on an Army ROTC scholarship in 2012, Bare was already thinking about the future.
The then-future soldier decided to take out a $20,000 loan through USAA during his last years of school.
He wanted to pursue what had always been his “passion.”
“All my friends who took out this loan — they bought new cars, they went on vacation, they got engagement rings,” she said.
“And I thought, ‘This is my golden ticket to starting a business.'”
BPN started with performance supplements including pre-workout, creatine, and whey protein, then moved on to health supplements like superfoods, multivitamins, and collagen in 2018.

“I built the business in my spare time while on active duty,” he said.
“So when I transitioned out of the military in 2017, I did it all.”
Bare shared that building the brand required a lot of “experiential learning,” rather than what he learned while studying business administration.
“I learned all about business by building a business,” he said.
The founder said the “amazing” flavors, effectiveness and story behind each product set BPN apart from its competitors.
“We don’t shoot with 20 biases,” he said.
“We launch one product at a time to solve a specific problem.”
Bare said that BPN has become more than just a brand for consumers, noting that thousands of people have adopted the company’s slogan, “Go one more.”
“It means when the going gets really tough … and it will and it will, he’s getting through it,” he said.
