Varun Namdev returned to the city last week after completing the arduous 3,600km cycle journey from Kashmir to Kanyakumari in about a month. A member of the ‘New Golfers Cycling Group’, Varun had taken up cycling to overcome lockdown-induced mental issues last year. He had started his cycling journey titled ‘Pedal 4 Mental Health’ from the city of Katra in Jammu and Kashmir on December 13 and completed the journey in Kanyakumari on January 13.

“In total, I cycled for 24 days. I set aside six days to repair the bike and recharge my body,” said Varun, adding that he cycled an average of 150 km in those days. “I trained with short trips before the national trip and I also did yoga as well as weight training before the start of the trip,” Varun said, adding that he traversed 12 states as part of his trip.
