Kell Brook has confirmed that there is a ‘rematch clause’ in the fight deal for the upcoming domestic grudge match with Amir Khan.
Brook and Khan will collide in a battle of former world champions on February 19 in Manchester.
The rematch clause appears to be in favor of Khan, who will have the option to exercise that option in the event of a loss.
“I think there is a rematch clause and I’m not sure I want to take that rematch clause or not with what I want to do to him in this fight,” Brook told Sky Sports News.
“I think there’s going to be fireworks and as soon as the bell rings, I’m going to walk away and go straight to him. He’s going to want to do the same thing and there’s going to be speed, there’s going to be power and there’s going to be everything you want to see in a boxing match in this fight.”
According to Brook, a rematch clause was one of the demands on Khan’s behalf, but the Sheffield fighter has serious doubts that scenario will come to pass.
He believes that Khan will retire from the sport.
“I’m leaving it up to my manager, my dad and my team,” Brook said. “All I care about is this fight. I know there will be a rematch if Amir Khan wants that. If Amir Khan wants another beating, he can have one.”
Brook is aiming to bounce back after his 2020 knockout loss to WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford, while Khan has been inactive since a TKO victory over Billy Dib in July 2019.
