Kochi: The Molecular Tumor Board, a multidisciplinary team that reviews and interprets genomic data to inform treatment decisions for cancer patientsshould use the latest advances in molecular technology and genomic testing to guide the selection of the most appropriate cancer treatments for individual patients, leading oncologists said at a seminar on ‘Understanding precision oncology‘.
The seminar was organized by Karkinos Healthcarepurpose driven technology oncology platform, in partnership with Cochin Oncology Group and Cusat in the city.
“Precision oncology uses advanced technologies, such as genomic sequencing, to improve patient outcomes and reduce treatment side effects. The treatment is tailored to the specific genetic makeup of an individual patient’s tumor by identifying specific mutations or abnormalities in cancer cells and targeting those with the most effective therapies,” said Dr. Moni Abraham Kuriakose, Chief Medical Officer, Co-Founder and CEO of Karkinos Healthcare, Kerala.
