GLENS FALLS — A Fort Edward woman whose job is to coordinate care at a mental health facility has been accused of raping a person in her care, Glens Falls police said.
The 31-year-old assistant coordinator was charged Thursday with the felony after police investigated a claim that she allegedly had sex with a person who was unable to consent. The June incident allegedly took place at a Warren-Washington Mental Health Association apartment complex on Cooper Street, police said.
Police Lt. Seth French said the victim told other staff members about the sexual encounter and the staff reported it to police. French also said police are investigating whether the woman had contact with other patients in her care.
He also said the Washington County Sheriff’s Office charged the woman with raping the same victim in Washington County. Further details about that case were not immediately available.
“There are no other victims or other facilities that we are aware of at this time,” French said.
However, he said, police are asking anyone with knowledge of other incidents involving the 31-year-old care coordinator to come forward. The public can call French or Chief Jarred Smith at 518-761-3840.
The woman was arraigned in Glens Falls City Court and released.
The Times Union was unable to immediately reach the leadership of the Warren-Washington Association for Mental Health. Police say the worker’s job status is unclear.
