Air pollution Is Reducing The Effect Of Corona Vaccine:We all agree on how dangerous air pollution is. This is one of the biggest health problems in the world. Because of this, about 70 lakh people die every year, in which 6 lakh children are also involved. This report is from the World Health Organization and now another danger related to air pollution has come to the fore. A recent study has revealed that the pollution spread in the air is reducing the effect of the Kovid vaccine. According to the study, people who were exposed to high levels of air pollution before the start of Kovid had less antibodies made from the Kovid vaccine. Scientists reported that pollutants such as PM 2.5, nitrogen dioxide and black carbon have been found to be associated with reducing the IgM and IgG antibody response by up to 10% in people before infection.
Antibodies made less even after vaccination
The findings, published in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives, also provided further evidence of adverse effects of air pollution on the immune system. The team of researchers analyzed data from 927 people aged 40 to 65. Blood samples of these people were taken. These blood samples were taken from the summer days in 2020 to the spring days of 2021. In all these people, some had one dose of the vaccine and some had both the doses. These people were residents of Spain, who were given doses of Estergeneca, Pfizer and Moderna vaccine.
Dr Ritesh Shah, MD, Senior Consultant Physician, Bhatia Hospital, Mumbai, said, “Air pollution can induce chronic inflammation, which has been linked to negative effects on vaccine efficacy. Antibody responses to COVID-19 vaccines are likely to be lower in people exposed to higher levels of air pollution before the pandemic. At the same time, he said that air pollution increases factors of immune response such as T helper lymphocytes type 2 and T helper lymphocytes type 17, as seen in allergies and asthma. Not only this, both these factors also work to spoil the antiviral immune response.
Let us tell you that the team of researchers examined three types of antibodies IgM, IgG and IgA, and five types of viral antigens which have three spike proteins present in the vaccine. The results in the study suggest that they can protect people infected with the disease. Exposure to pm2.5, N02 and black carbon resulted in a 5 to 10 percent reduction in vaccine spike antibodies. Antibody reduction was observed in both the early IgM response and the subsequent IgG response. These results were found to be exactly the same on all types of vaccines.
Other disadvantages of air pollution
At the same time, Manolis Kogevinas of the Barcelona Institute for Global Health says that air pollution is linked to causing a lot of health damage, which includes cancer, heart disease and respiratory diseases as well as diabetes.
