Panaji: The All India Organization of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD) has raised objections to the proposed collaboration between Swiggy Instamart and PharmEasy for ten-minute drug deliveries through dark stores, citing possible violations of legal standards and health risks public.
AIOCD Goa president JS Shinde said this association could likely ignore essential standards like proper monitoring of prescriptions and identification of patients, putting public health at risk.
The AIOCD added that the ultra-rapid delivery model can increase the risk of expired or counterfeit medicines, affecting patient safety.
“In a model like this, it is impossible to meet quality standards,” he said. The AIOCD said that despite the government’s efforts to address the menace of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), unregulated operation of e-pharmacies may worsen this problem. “These associations undermine efforts to combat antimicrobial resistance,” he added.
The AIOCD urged the government to review these issues thoroughly and implement measures to ensure safe and reliable healthcare for citizens.
