They say that a good craftsman should never blame his tools. weight lifters and strength sports athletes he knows very well that working with quality weights and other equipment is a must. Having the proper tools of the trade can be the difference between other average training and achieving great results. Chris Duffin understands this philosophy very well.
As co-owner of kabuki Force, Chris Duffin, takes pride in the weights and equipment in which it plays a part in production. This isn’t just for your customers, either. The Oregon native brings serious lifting credentials to the table. He is the first man on record to have squatted and deadlifted 1,000 pounds for multiple reps.
He joined Muscle & Fitness editor-in-chief Zack Zeigler on a recent episode of the representatives podcastand explained why that feat is so important to him.
“It’s a story about human perseverance,” he said. It’s about going after really big, twisted things, and then the impact that that has, not only on you, but on the people around you in the world.”
One of the best selling Kabuki rods is the Transformer rod. Someone who doesn’t know much about training might think it’s just another safety squat bar. As Duffin explained, it’s actually much more sophisticated than a traditional version. In addition to dials that allow the user to adjust where the weight is placed, the bar is designed with the purpose of maximize user occupancy potential.
“So inside the pad, it actually wraps around the traps so you don’t create a pressure point for when you have issues, and maybe the innervation issues or the pain issues of a straight bar there,” Duffin explained. . “So, he wraps up and then he lowers the handle here, where I’m now in an optimal position to be able to engage my lats and get full spinal stability and get the whole squat down.”
Another bar that is closely associated with Duffin and Kabuki Strength is the famous duffalo bar, the arched bar that is popular for squatting. Duffin revealed that it can actually be used for much more than traditional squats.
“It causes a deviation in the wrist and the deviation actually causes the elbow to externally rotate and starts to stack the joints,” Duffin said. “So any overhead press, incline press, flat press, floor press, it’s going to be phenomenal.”
Chris Duffin talked more about why his weights have a positive impact on training and why more customers are becoming believers.
