Panaji: Health Department wants to introduce Health Management Information System (HMIS), and also plans to paperless district hospitals in North and South Goa.
Under the center Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), citizens will get a digital health identity ie Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) and their health records will be digitally secured, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane told
HMIS will be implemented in both district hospitals under ABDM, which will provide a cloud-based system with easy and quick access to patient and hospital records.
Rane said that OPDs of district hospitals will be made paperless initially in a phased manner.
“In North and South District Hospitals, registration and Patient records will be done online. Going forward, all OPD data will be digitized under HMIS,” he said.
Retrospective data will be available online as well as on mobile. Patients’ consent will be sought every time it needs to be accessed, he said.
Rane added that Health ID is a nationwide initiative that will bridge the existing gap between various stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem through a digital highway.
ABHA will facilitate registration and access to multiple digital health services available across the ABDM ecosystem now and in the future.
The mission will create a seamless online platform that aims to standardize data formats, making it easier to share information across different stakeholders and systems.
Standardization will further help physicians and public health officials make better decisions and provide timely interventions, the health minister said, adding that with uniform data from all providers, patients will be able to see all their health records in one place.
