Covid takes a toll on Esha Gupta’s mental health; says she is going through slowest road to recovery

As actress Esha Gupta recovers from Covid-19 in Madrid, her family in Delhi is also battling the virus. And not being able to be with them not only makes her feel powerless, but also takes a toll on her mental health.

“I thought I would be one of those people who would be saved from getting the virus as, during the peak in India in January, I was filming in Kolkata. Even during my other series, we had cases, but my team and I were safe,” he tells us.

Gupta continues: “The fact that I have had a fever and cough for two weeks and have lost my sense of smell has made me very paranoid but more cautious about my health. My whole family is sick with Covid and I can’t imagine anything worse for anyone.”

The 36-year-old woman tested positive earlier this month and is in isolation with her Spanish boyfriend Manuel Campos Guallar. “Fortunately or unfortunately, my partner and I have Covid. So it’s not as bad as I’m close to, but I feel like it’s taken a toll on me mentally as it’s been almost two weeks of the slowest road to recovery. Also, I can’t travel to be with my family”, he confesses.

For her, being isolated has also been a great learning, as she admits that it is teaching her that “nothing is more important than your loved ones”.

“And every free time should be used, even in bed, to read and learn new talents. I have been learning a lot about astronomy since all I can do is lie down. Keeping our minds sharp is important, as I can see I have been feeling very bad, and I think my father in Delhi is going through the same thing. It’s hard and it’s different for every human being,” he says as he says goodbye.
