D.L. Hughley fires back at Kanye West after the rapper threatened him: ‘Mental health is no joke’

DL Hughley responded sharply to kanye-west on Sunday in response to the rapper’s Instagram posts threatening him over the weekend.

The 59-year-old comedian wrote on Instagram that “mental health is no joke”, adding that it was not acceptable to threaten the “safety of a man’s home and family”.

In a since-deleted post, West, 44, wrote that he could find Hughley’s address, adding, “I can afford to hurt you.”

Hughely shared an image on Instagram showing crushed white medicine, along with a photo of the hitmaker and a screenshot of one of his own tweets from Sunday morning.

‘Hmm! Isn’t it weird that #Kanye supposedly has all these thugs that will kill for him, but none of them will get the recipes from him? he originally wrote in the tweet. ‘Here’s a thought while you’re on your way to kill me in Calabasas, what if someone stops by CVS and picks up the Xanax from him? Haha #TeamDl.’

In her follow-up Instagram post, she added, “You can tell when people surround themselves with real people.” REAL ONES in your corner would NEVER allow you to threaten a man or his family, especially in a public forum. Mental health is no joke…neither is the safety of a man’s home and family. #TeamDL #KingS***.’

Later on Sunday, Hughley continued his Twitter tirade against rapper Monster.

‘No way would I be afraid of a guy who wears #IKnowWhatDidLastSummerBoots [sic]!!!’ he wrote, referencing the bulky black rain boots West has been a fan of lately.

He took on the tease of another no by bringing West’s ex Kim Kardashian’s new boyfriend, Pete Davidson, into the mix.

In a since-deleted post, the rapper had previously threatened the reality star and said he could easily find out where she lived.

“DL Hughley is a pawn. Yes I know a king shouldn’t address a pawn but I address everything and find DL addresses. So don’t talk about me or my children. I can afford to hurt you,” he wrote.

In a subsequent post, which he also deleted, West posted a video of Hughley collapsing onstage during a stand-up set in June 2020, after contracting COVID-19.

“We will stop allowing drug addicts to be used by leftists for Willie Lynch, our future black people with our own opinion cannot speak in public,” the producer wrote.

Last month, the comedic and political commentator spoke out in defense of Kardashian amid her ongoing divorce from West.

“I think I’ve seen too many times when things like this happen and you don’t believe a woman or someone. And then things escalate,’ he said. VladTV. She is stalking her. You may think she is cute. If she were my daughter, I would do something about it. I don’t think it’s funny.

“I think you can’t write a beat that’s good enough to do these things,” he continued. “And society laughs because they say, ‘Well, she’s flashing her butt all the time and he’s this and he’s that.'”

During a live fan room Chanel Omari’s August 2020 session, which was in the middle of the rapper’s doomed presidential campaign, said West uses his mental health issues as an excuse when it can benefit him.

“He’s not mentally ill enough to talk about any other group of people,” Hughley said. “He talks about people that he knows he can get away with, and then he’s not sick enough to try to be a disruptor in a political way. He’s not sick enough to accept $5 million in PPP payments, so he seems conveniently sick when he fulfills his purpose.’

Hughley and West’s feud comes after Kardashian, who filed for divorce in February 2021, went Instagram official with Davidson earlier this month.

West’s feud with her ex and her boyfriend escalated over the weekend, when she spoke out to criticize her for letting her eldest daughter, North West, make TikTok videos, which Kim says she oversees.

Text messages purportedly sent by Davidson to West were also leaked, in which the comedian appeared to call Kardashian “the best mother I’ve ever met,” before mocking his ex with a photo of himself in bed, which he said showed him, “In bed with your wife.

The Saturday Night Live star also urged his rival to meet with him in person to discuss their differences, instead of airing their dirty laundry in public.
