Deputies assist Delaware woman suffering mental health crisis in Monongalia County

MORGANTOWN, West Virginia – Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department deputies assisted a woman suffering from what they described as a mental health crisis along Interstate 68 Friday morning.

MECCA 911 received a call at 7 am from the woman’s mother stating that her 31-year-old daughter and her children, an 11-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy, had removed their clothing and were walking on the shoulder. off I-68 near the Pierpont exit.

Monongalia EMS evaluated all three and transported the mother to Ruby Memorial Hospital. The children are now in the custody of the grandparents.

The family lives in Delaware. Delaware Child Protective Services was contacted for a follow-up investigation, authorities said.
