When looking for ‘healthier’ options at the grocery store, many of us probably head down the ‘health food aisle’, but as this dietitian explains, sometimes that’s not the best option.
Rebecca Gawthorne, known as naturally nourished On Instagram, she has shared some of the popular products she would and wouldn’t buy.
“What items in the health food aisle would a dietitian buy?” she captioned the video (which you can see above).

Sugar-free chocolate chip cookies might sound like a great option if you have a sweet tooth, but Rebecca says they’re “a no from me.”
“These are too processed for my liking, and I’d rather enjoy a regular cookie without all the additives,” she adds.
Virgin coconut oil is another popular ‘health food’ that Rebecca says she would avoid.
“This is a much-advertised health product that is high in saturated fat and I prefer to buy other oils as my main cooking oil,” she says.
“I wouldn’t buy this on a regular basis.”

Roasted pumpkin seeds were on the list of items she would add to her cart.
“These are high in healthy fats and a good source of nutrients like magnesium and zinc. I would definitely buy these,” she says.
She would also “definitely buy” the dry roasted mixed nuts.
“These are an excellent source of healthy fats, they contain vegetable proteins and minerals such as iron,” says Rebecca.

The video was praised by her followers, receiving close to 1,500 likes.

“Guilty of buying those cookies. Thanks,” admitted another.
While a third said, “I love this. You always think this is the ‘healthy’ aisle until someone like you guides you with your nutrition knowledge.”
