However, WHO researchers say more research is needed into how Mpox spreads in outbreaks under different circumstances. The main symptom of mumps is a rash that turns into pus-filled sores, which can last for two to four weeks. Symptoms include fever, headache, body aches, sore throat and cough, as well as lymphadenopathy (swollen lymph nodes). People with mumps are considered contagious until all of their sores have crusted over, the scabs fall off and a new layer of skin forms underneath, and infection occurs in the eyes and body (mouth, throat, eyes, vagina and anus). Not all sores may heal. The rash can vary depending on the type of mumps.
