Funding for one of the Healthy Minds programs runs out at the end of September and politicians and members of the public have asked how the service offered could be saved.
At a council meeting, Earl James Baker asked Cabinet members: “I understand the funds are going to run out.
“What are you going to put in place to help people when that service ends?”
Cabinet member for climate change and resilience, Earl Scott Patient, said there have been ongoing discussions with Healthy Minds.
It was still part of flood action plan and while Healthy Minds may not be able to provide the service, there was enthusiasm to allow calderdale The Flood Resilience and Recovery Program Board partners to deliver it to other locations.
The board was still trying to work with Healthy Minds to see if there were other funding sources that could provide the necessary cash, although the organization did not feel it had the ability to bid.
“Unfortunately, it’s a bit of a national issue, so we’ll be striving to do what we can to try to provide the service in some way, shape, form, but it might not be through Healthy Minds,” Coun Patient said.
Chief executive Jonny Richardson Glenn said Healthy Minds has been talking to council and NHS funders and commissioners for the last 18 months.
“We have argued that the service plays a role in local, regional and national strategies to improve mental health and well-being, but none of that has translated into the financial support that we and others in the charity sector need to maintain. vital services running.
“While the loss of Recovery & Support will affect people, Healthy Minds is still here and our other services will remain available for the foreseeable future as they have separate funding streams,” he said.
Healthy Minds estimates that around 4,000 people have benefited from this support in that time and 300 people currently receive support from the team.
