Mumbai: Dozeein alliance with British international investment (BII), the UK development finance institution (IFD) and impact inverteris set to upgrade 6,000 hospital beds in 140 public hospitals in India and other regions, by incorporating its Millions of ICU Initiativewhich is India’s first AI-based contactless system Remote patient monitoring (RPM) and Early Warning System (SAT).
The current public health care in India it has a nurse to patient ratio of 1:40, in stark contrast to the WHO recommended ratio of 1:4. In addition, there is a severe shortage of ICU beds which is further aggravated by the shortage of hospital staff. Today, more than 95 percent of hospital beds in India are suboptimally monitored with random manual checks that limit the ability to detect early deteriorating conditions in patients. This causes a greater workload on the under-resourced health system.
Mudit Dandwate, CEO and Co-Founder of Dozed, commented on India’s urgent need to improve its healthcare delivery system: “According to the 2021 Niti Aayog report, India currently has 1.3 hospital beds per 1,000 population. There is also a shortage of skilled health workers, with 0.65 doctors per 1,000 people (the World Health Organization standard is 1 per 1,000 people) and 1.3 nurses per 1,000 people, placing a huge pressure on the country’s health infrastructure. The public health care system’s connected care model can help bridge this gap, supported by technological advances such as AI-based early warning systems and contactless remote monitoring systems that have the potential to transform hospital beds. standard hospital in connected reducing ICU beds”.
The goal of Dozee’s partnership with BII is to improve access to healthcare in India and ease the workload of healthcare workers and reduce burnout and fatigue for nurses on hospital wards. Dozee’s MillionICU initiative saves around two and a half hours of nursing time per patient per day in India. It was established in 2021 with the schedule to install one million reducing ICU beds across India.
Backed by capital from BII, Dozee will upgrade regular beds to reduce ICUs through its MillionICU initiative, which has already benefited 46 such hospitals in more than 15 districts with more than 10,000 patients monitored and saving more than 25,000 nursing hours.
Speaking about the partnership, Manav Bansal, Managing Director and Head of India, BII concluded: “Improved access to affordable healthcare significantly increases productivity and development outcomes. Our partnership with Dozee will help scale technology-enabled healthcare solutions that will ease the burden on healthcare staff and increase patient access to quality and affordable healthcare in India over the long term and help improve the clinical outcomes for patients in the country’s public hospitals.
