Dehradun (uttarakhand): Uttarakhand Health Department has successfully completed the test of drone technology Deliver medicines and vaccines within a certain period. To deliver medicines to remote areas of the state, the unique initiative of the health department to deliver vaccines to recipients living in remote districts of the state through information technology has been successful in the shortest possible time.
Uttarakhand Department of Medical Education and Medical Health Secretary R Rajesh Kumar said the vaccine dose it was successfully delivered from Dehradun to the Uttarkashi border district in just 40 minutes by the health department using drone technology.
Under the immunization program, 400 doses of Diphtheria, Tetanus (DPT) and Penta have been delivered by drone to the office of the Chief Medical Officer, Uttarkashi. Normally it takes 5-6 hours by road.
Kumar said that the road is used to deliver medicines or vaccines in the state, which takes a lot of time, and sometimes there are difficulties in delivering medicines due to disaster.
It is the commitment of the Ministry of Health that there is no delay in the distribution of medicines and that medicines and vaccines are available on time in all medical units and in those places and towns where there is no road facility, he added.
In the near future, the drone technology facility will prove to be a milestone in delivering first aid medicines and other materials on time in the event of an accident, disaster or any other critical situation, he said.
“We will keep the vaccine available in all medical units in the state to make it easy for eligible beneficiaries to get vaccinated,” Kumar said.
