He has been open about his extraordinary diet and exercise routines to get in shape for his roles in blockbuster movies.
But dwayne johnson also focused on the importance of mental health in a digression from his new men’s health cover story, which was published on Wednesday.
The 50-year-old professional wrestler-turned-actor urged his fans to “ask for help” when they find themselves in a dark place, while stressing that there is “no shame” in reaching out to others.

Johnson explained to the health magazine that learning to ask for help was a major turning point for him.
“I think one of the pivotal, defining moments in my life was when I really realized the power and value of asking for help,” she explained. ‘Vulnerability. You know, really like checking your ego at the gate.
He noted that social attitudes can prevent men in particular from sharing their problems with others.
“As guys, we have a tendency not to ask for help. Ego gets in the way and we start shoving stuff deep in our guts, which is not good,” she continued.
Disclosure: “I think one of the defining and pivotal moments in my life was when I really realized the power and value of asking for help,” he explained, while noting that social values can scare men away from being vulnerable.
His own experiences of decades before withdrawing from an internal conflict had shaped his views on the need to ask for help.
‘I grew up an only child. I was that guy who hid things and didn’t talk about them, and I would figure it all out myself,” he shared. “Most of the time I figured it out on my own, but it also took a toll on me, man, on my soul and mental health.
“So these days, I’m a big advocate of asking for help,” he added.
Unfortunately, it was a hard lesson to learn, as Johnson watched several friends die by suicide due to their inability or unwillingness to help in their darkest moments.
“I’ve lost friends, uh, who dropped out and, yes, ended their lives because they didn’t want to ask for help,” he said. ‘So you have to communicate. You have to ask for help.
He added reassuringly: ‘There’s no shame in that. If you don’t know something, ask. If you don’t know, ask.

Johnson has previously delved into his past struggles with depression.
In a 2018 interview with the British Expressopened up about the trauma he felt after his mother’s suicide attempt when he was only 15 years old.
After his family was evicted from their apartment when he was a teenager, Johnson’s mother, Ata, tried to commit suicide by parking her car and walking into the middle of a busy road in Nashville. Fortunately, the cars slowed down and swerved to avoid hitting her.
‘The struggle and pain are real. He was devastated and depressed,’ he shared in the interview. “I got to a point where I didn’t want to do anything or go anywhere. He was constantly crying.
He spoke about the shocking incident in a instagram 2018 publication.
“I grabbed her and pulled her back over the shoulder of the road,” Johnson wrote in the caption to a photo from the set of her series Ballers. ‘The crazy thing about that suicide attempt is that to this day, she doesn’t remember any of it. It’s probably for the best that she doesn’t.
He added: “We got lucky that day when I was 15 and that’s not always the case.”

Despite the serious digression, the rest of The Rock’s interview was more relaxed, as he delved into the extraordinary diet he went on to get cut to play superhero Black Adam.
With the help of the chefs and a strength and conditioning coach, Dwayne adheres to a strict six-meal-a-day plan that forces him to consume “meat like a bison” on a regular basis.
For breakfast, The Rock says he’ll eat a full meal that contains “eggs, a meat like bison, a complex carbohydrate like oatmeal, and fruit, usually papaya or blueberries.”

The former wrestler will continue with a second meal at 10 am, where he will consume complex carbohydrates such as chicken breast, rice and vegetables.
As for dinner, The Rock typically eats fish, chicken, steak, or buffalo protein along with a plate of complex carbohydrates such as sweet potatoes and vegetables.
Dwayne attributes his dedication to the diet to his father, former professional wrestler Rocky Johnson.

In addition to his meals, The Rock goes to the gym six days a week, according to Men’s Health Australia.
To stay in shape, Johnson works out at his home gym that he has dubbed ‘The Iron Paradise’ in his Miami home.
The workouts continue when he’s shooting movies; Johnson previously revealed that he has a team assembles a gym for himself filled with 40,000 pounds of steel and iron.
The results were fully on display in his latest film, the DC movie Black Adam, in which he donned a skintight superhero suit.
Johnson previously called filming the DC movie “the most physically difficult task of my entire career.” [and] mentally’.
